INSTALLATION AND PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Remove the existing replaceable cartridge
from the urinal. In some brands of “waterfree” urinals the existing
replaceable cartridge has to turn counter clockwise about ¼ turn
before it can be lifted out.
After the old replaceable cartridge has been removed, flush
the urinal housing and sewer line with a bucket of warm water.
It is recommended that the sewer lines be cleaned and/or snaked
before installing the Eco Urinal Cartridge, especially if build
up in the urinal housing is present due to possible past chemical
reactions between the old cartridge sealant and urinal cleaners.
Also clean the area where the Eco Cartridge gasket will make
contact.
After the above steps have been completed, apply a food grade
silicone or other rubber-safe lubricant to the gasket, and
simply push the Eco Urinal Cartridge into the Urinal Housing.
It does not have to be turned or locked. Wipe off any excess
lubricant on the top.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE:
To keep the urinal, cartridge, and check valve working optimally,
periodically remove the cartridge* and check for any deposits
on the end of the check valve and drain line. To remove the
cartridge, insert the handle, (included), or a medium screwdriver
into tee handle holes. The best way to get the cartridge out
is to insert the tool, lock it in place, then rock the cartridge
side to side to break it loose. Remove the cartridge by turning
the tool while pulling up. NOTE: If the cartridge is in tight,
put some liquid calcium dissolver around the outside edge and
tap with plastic hammer if needed. Let sit for a few minutes,
then remove the cartridge by turning the tool while pulling
up. Be careful not to core out the center holes. If any deposits
are observed, run the valve under water while massaging the
valve end (do not remove the rubber valve as you will be unable
to attach it again). Any accumulated deposits should come right
off the valve. Check to be sure the curl on the end of the
valve is maintained and there is a good seal. Flush the urinal
housing with water to ensure there is good drainage, then re-install
the cartridge making sure to apply a rubber-safe lubricant
to the gasket.
Flush the drain lines with a bucket of water (2-3 gal.) once
a month by pouring water directly into the urinal without removing
the cartridge. Flushing the cartridge with water will not harm
the check valve, but be cognizant of hard water deposits in
the water, which can cause build-up. Be careful not to use
urinal cakes, which can discolor the cartridge top over time
and void the warranty.
